Dangerous Beauty: Poisonous Plants

I was researching about how to make a cutting from the Angel Trumpet tree and discovered that while they are easy to root and grow even from seed they are also extremely poisonous.
The experts say not to handle them very much and to be especially careful of the seed pod.
Some say it can affect a person or animal the way a hallucinogenic drug does.

Awareness is my ounce of prevention. I think I'll research every new plant right away from now on.

Another Angel Trumpet Tree view.
The first time I saw one in full bloom was at Biltmore House in Ashville, NC. It was beautiful, trained into an umbrella shape.

Singing in the Rain

Finally, the heat is out of the triple digits and into the high doubles. It's also hurricane season which means rain and my Angel Trumpet Tree is lovin' it!

Angel Trumpet Tree

My beautiful Angel Trumpet Tree seems "flat" lately. I think it is planted in a poor spot for the species. Too much sun perhaps.
It loves the night and the trumpets look best when it is too late to see them well.
Well, for me, it's a good lesson to see the tree do its best even if no one notices.
